Emerging Projects

The Denver Lab is a dynamic environment that embraces new questions, approaches, systems, and perspectives. Over the last two decades, we have studied many different species of anemones, bacteria, dinoflagellates, gastropods, nematodes, phage, and trees. New directions often come from the minds and motivations of student trainees, as well as from new collaborations. There is always something new going on with our team!

Emerging areas of inquiry include:
  • Biodiversity and responses of fungi to climate change (from new graduate trainee Brenna Prevelige)
  • Intersections of biological, Buddhist, and Native American philosophies (in collaboration with Rebekah Sinclair)
  • We recently discovered an unnamed Phasmarhabditis sp. that infects earthworms, and are beginning research focused on understanding the host range of this nematode lineage
